Crosthwaite and Lyth Neighbourhood Plan - Update May 2026: Work on the Crosthwaite and Lyth Neighbourhood Plan has been paused:
Though well advanced, the external financial support provided by government and essential to complete the NP has been withdrawn. Efforts continue to secure the additional funding required totalling some £6,000; however, unless or until such funding is obtained, the development of the NP is paused.
Crosthwaite and Lyth Parish Council Strategic Plan
In the absence of a Neighbourhood Plan, the Parish Council felt that it might be helpful to provide the residents of Crosthwaite and Lyth with clear insight of what it is trying to achieve and how it expects to deliver this. This is to be found in The Crosthwaite and Lyth Strategic Plan, which is based on priorities identified in the work-up of the Neighbourhood Plan. The Strategic Plan identifies what the Parish Council plans to focus on for the next 5 years and will be used as a guide each year to set the budget for the following financial year.
The Strategic Plan remains in draft to allow for a period of local consultation and is to be found here: Strategic Plan Appendix 1
Crosthwaite and Lyth Neighbourhood Development Plan has now developed to a point where the current draft was published for a period of informal public consultation.
Informal consultation is a means of engaging with local residents to take initial views before moving on the formal consultation, again with local reisients but also with local authorities, agencies and other stakeholders before the formal process for adoption.
This period of informal public consultation took place between 24 March and 13 April 2025.
The Informal consultation was supported by a range of documents as follows:
- The current Draft Neighbourhood Development Plan which is HERE
- Crosthwaite and Lyth Neighbourhood Plan Design Code (Appendix 2 of the Neighbourhood Plan) which is Here
- An explanatory letter circulated to all households in the week commencing 24 March and which is HERE
- A Summary of the contents of the draft Plan circulated to all households w/c 24 March and which is HERE
- The Response Form circulated to all households w/c 24 March and which is HERE
- A promotional poster which is HERE
